Reina Remigio, PhD

Reina Remigio, PhD (she/ze), is a second-generation Filipino-American clinical psychologist who identifies as gender non-binary and is femme in gender expression. Reina provides individual, group, couples/family Telehealth services throughout California and specializes in working with adults struggling with the intersection of an overcontrolled coping (OC) style and eating disorder, substance use disorder, grief, and/or trauma, interwoven within the context of culture and identity.

Reina is intensively trained in Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO-DBT), an active and collaborative evidence-based framework specifically designed to address issues of overcontrol and internalization, which can present as hyper-perfectionism, overthinking, chronic depression/anxiety, restriction-based eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive personality disorder, and more. Often times, folks with OC coping styles suffer in silence or with limited visibility, and this generally leads to emotional loneliness and social disconnection or isolation. In partnership with clients and through a skillful, skills-based, and attuned approach, Reina supports clients to live a more connected, effective, and authentic values-based life.

In addition to specialized training in RO-DBT and other evidence-based practices, such as Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Processing Therapy, Reina has over 15 years of professional clinical experience, inclusive of psychotherapy, clinical directorship, clinical supervision and training, and program development. She is passionate about empowering people to live meaningfully and wholly within community, in their own unique expression of that.
